“Shawn Seah’s Our Amazing Heroes illustrates how the deep roots of family history and enduring family values shaped the lives of local heroes. Their remarkable contributions to society remind us how family ethos, support and legacy inspire acts of courage, compassion, and leadership across generations.”
Ng Yew Kang,
President of Genealogy Society Singapore
“Our Amazing Heroes are stories of heroism, courage and honour in times of great hardship during the war in Singapore. Shawn Seah takes historical facts, brings them to life in compelling stories, and makes difficult topics accessible, and even inspiring, to young readers. Our Amazing Heroes convey values of courage in the face of danger; compassion, kindness, and sacrifice during war; and resilience to overcome trying times. These are values that endure. The stories will connect with students and motivate them to believe that they can shape the world by reflecting on those who made a difference during a dark time in Singapore’s history. War brings difficult challenges, but also reveals the best in humanity. I am delighted to support Shawn Seah’s dedication and commitment to historical storytelling.”
Dr John Kwok,
Co-founder of Total Heritage and Prominent War Historian

Leader and Legislator: Seah Liang Seah
(Singapore: Pagesetters, 2019)
Beneath the modern, polished surface of Singapore today lies many rich and surprising stories of the men and women who made a home here in Singapore. This book tells one of those stories, and brings vividly to life a fascinating man whose name today is more commonly associated with hip restaurants and watering holes. I am glad that a younger generation of Singaporeans, represented by the author Shawn Seah, is interested in reclaiming and retelling these stories. Seah Liang Seah’s story is very much a story of Singapore, and those who read this book will understand how Singapore has come to be and will continue to reinvent itself in the future.
Keith Tan
Then-Chief Executive Officer, Singapore Tourism Board

Seah Eu Chin: His Life and Times (2nd Ed.)
(Singapore: Pagesetters, 2019)
The Bukit Brown Community has been invested in the life and times of Seah Eu Chin ever since Raymond and Charles Goh tracked down his grave at Grave Hill in November 2012. In tracing his roots, Shawn Seah brings alive the pioneering spirit and contributions of early 19th century Singapore.

WHAT IS THIS AUTHOR’S WEBSITE ABOUT?
Hello, I’m Shawn Seah, a published author and public speaker.
This website is my official author page, where you can read about my personal journey as a published author and public speaker. I have written non-fiction for both children and adults, and spoken at libraries, museums, and schools. Through my personal journey in writing and public speaking, I hope you will find inspiration and motivation, or what resonates with you.
You will also find my books and upcoming events like book talks, literary festivals, and lectures, seminars, or workshops. This media page covers press and media coverage, social media mentions, and public references.
If you would like to learn more about historical Aukang and Punggol (covering areas like Hougang, Sengkang, Buangkok, and Punggol today), I have a special page called kampung. It is devoted to my book, My Father’s Kampung: A History of Aukang and Punggol.
You will also find my blog, where I share insights and reflections on writing and manuscript development; family history research; publishing; and public speaking and community engagement. I cover all of these topics, and much more.

APPRECIATION AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
Over the years, I have had the good fortune to closely collaborate with partners such as Genealogy Society Singapore; Peranakan Association Singapore; and Singapore Seah Clan Association.
I have also been kindly supported and encouraged by talented mentors and writers, like Dr John Kwok (who inspired me to keep writing my family history); Josephine Chia (who encouraged me over the years); and Robert Yeo (who wrote me a Foreword for My Father’s Kampung).
In fact, it takes a whole kampung to write and publish a book, let alone many books. This webpage, titled “Thanks“, is devoted to these amazing people who have helped me in my writing and publishing journey.
And I would like to thank you for visiting and reading too.
I really appreciate it.
I believe that Singapore’s storytellers, artists, and creators can only thrive with community support. Without the support of kind people who read our books, attend our talks, or visit our websites, none of this would even be possible.
Thank you very much.
